Scrappy Piano Teachers
Hey Teacher Friend,
It has been a minute since I sent you an email, and apparently I have been busy because I have quite a few things to catch you up on. 😅
But first, the BIG thing.
Molly Gebrian is joining us for the October Scrappy Circle!
Molly is a professional violist, teacher, researcher, and author who has done so much work around the science of learning, memory, and effective practice.
And this past weekend, I got to hear her speak again!
She presented for our local MTNA district, and it was SO incredibly helpful. I left thinking, more piano teachers need this.
So, naturally, I asked if she would come hang out with the Scrappy teachers.😊
On October 23 at 1:00 PM Eastern, Molly will be joining us for a 90- minute Scrappy Circle.
She will be sharing her session with us, and we will have time for Q&A too.
Registration is officially open, and I would LOVE to fill this room with teachers who want to better understand how the brain learns and how we can help our students practice more effectively.
Apparently, I haven't stayed on top of my email list very well, and there are a few episodes that might be of interest.
If you have missed a few, here are some good ones to catch up on:
Jazz Band, Improv, and Beyond with Quentin Walston
This one came out TODAY, and it was such a fun conversation. If you teach students who are interested in jazz, improvisation, playing in jazz band, or just getting more comfortable making music away from the written page, Quentin has tons of practical advice.
Teacher Trends and the Power of Community with Brian Shepherd
Brian joined me to talk about some of the trends he is seeing among music teachers through MTNA and why community continues to matter so much in our profession.
Your Students Are Overscheduled. Now What?
Yep. We went there.
I talked about helping students practice when their schedules are already packed, along with some of the things I am doing in my own studio this year.
That episode ties in nicely with a new blog post I wrote about my annual Practice Workshop and Honors Program, so if you have been asking me about either of those, you can finally peek behind the curtain.
