Scrappy Piano Teachers

Nov 21st

Hey Teacher Friend,

December is weird for piano teachers, isn't it?

Recital stress is real. So is the guilt of not having a recital at all (side note, there is nothing to feel guilty about)

If you did have one, the motivation to practice usually disappears the moment it is over. And that last week before break can feel like a toss up. Students are pretty much done and we are too. Schedules are wild, kids are bouncing with holiday energy, families are traveling or canceling for school events. You never quite know what you are going to walk into and the rhythm that usually holds the studio together is not really there.

I have found that December feels better when I stop trying to force everything into a normal lesson. Some years I stretch out something festive across a few weeks. Some years I do a little performance class. Some years I pull out a few wiggle activities or a composing prompt and call it a win. December just needs to be flexible.

I put together a December Piano Party Pack that works like an a la carte menu.

You can mix and match anything inside. You can stretch the activities across the whole month or save them for one big class. You can swap a couple into private lessons on the days when students show up with zero practice. You can even use them in place of a recital if December surprised you.

Here is what is inside the pack.

● A themed warmup students can do together
● A black key improv activity
● A set of holiday rhythm cards (with TWO games!)
● A composing prompt that works for beginners
● Listening Sheet for performance style classes
● Symbol Hunt to keep hands busy
● Instructions for the easiest winter ornament craft
● Teacher instructions for every activity
● Printable pages ready for immediate use with NO PRINT options too!

It is five dollars and will stay at five dollars. Nothing fancy. Just something simple to lean on during a month that likes to do its own thing.

A quick note. If you decide to grab it, you will receive a Black Friday coupon for the Winter Workshop. It will be emailed to you on Friday November 28 of 2025 and the coupon will stay active through January. Workshop details will be announced that same day. This is my way of saying thank you for supporting my work and for being part of this little community.
