Scrappy Piano Teachers

Hey Teacher Friend,

Practice seems to be the theme around here lately.

Leila Viss and I got talking recently about her 2026 Practice Streak and my upcoming Scrappy Circle with Molly Gebrian. The timing was pretty perfect because Leila has incorporated quite a few ideas from Molly’s book, Learn Faster, Perform Better, into what she is doing.

So naturally, we decided to hop on Zoom for what was supposed to be a quick little 10 minute conversation.

And yeah...it was not 10 minutes. 😉

We ended up talking for almost half an hour about practice, helping students become more intentional, giving practice strategies memorable names (Leila is full of SO many clever titles), Molly’s research, and the fact that piano teachers may need a little practice accountability too.

You can listen to the bonus episode here:

Leila’s Practice Streak is open through October 31. Oh, and did you know it is FREE?!

Teachers can participate themselves, and many are also using pieces of it with their students. How cool is that? Each day includes practice ideas, videos, strategies, and ways to think a little differently about how we actually learn.

And yes, you can absolutely join late (b/c that was my first question for her).

I am starting October 1, so if you are late too, you can join me. 😉 In fact, PLEASE join me, and let's hold one another accountable. I could really use it!

You can sign up here:

And then, on October 23, we get to keep the conversation going.

Molly Gebrian, author of Learn Faster, Perform Better, is joining me live for a 90-minute Scrappy Circle all about practice, learning, and what is actually happening in the brain.

I recently saw Molly give this presentation for our OhioMTA district, and it was SO good.

Our Scrappy Circle will be a little more intimate, and we will have time at the end for an open Q&A, which means you will actually be able to ask Molly your own questions.

Registration is open now:

So if better practice has been on your mind this fall, you have a few ways to jump in:

  1. Join Leila’s Practice Streak.
  2. Listen to our bonus conversation.
  3. And come hang out with Molly and me on October 23.

Apparently this fall is all about practice on my end, and I am pretty happy about it. If you decide to do the Practice Streak, let me know! Maybe we can get a practice group together 🥳

Talk soon,

Jaci
