Scrappy Piano Teachers

Hey Teacher Friend,

If you are looking for a Halloween piano resource that feels special without taking over your lesson plans, the newly revised Scaredy Dog is ready for October!

This short musical storybook follows Coda through four spooky chapters with four fun beginner songs for the piano. I use one chapter each week during October, turning it into a simple month-long adventure that my students look forward to every year.

Each week, students read the next chapter, complete a fun activity, prepare for the music with a Let’s Get Ready to Play exercise, and learn a new piece.

The music is flexible enough to use with different students. You can teach each piece by rote, use the included pre-reader notation when it fits the student, and add the easy teacher duet to make the music feel even more special.

My students love playing these pieces at our annual Masquerade Musicale Halloween recital. Shadows always seems to be the favorite, and this year I am especially excited to perform the new teacher duets with them.

The revised studio edition now includes:

  • Completely new artwork created by one of my own piano students
  • Color and black and white studio copies
  • A Let’s Get Ready to Play section for every piece
  • Rote teaching pages and prereader notation
  • Easy teacher duets
  • A fun activity for every chapter

The studio license allows you to print and use the book with students in your own studio year after year. The black and white version is especially fun because students can color the illustrations as they work through the story.

To celebrate the release, you can save $5 through Friday, September 25.

I hope Coda’s adventure with the neighborhood cat adds some Halloween fun to your studio this October. If you use it with your students, I would love to hear which chapter and piece become their favorites!

P.S. Prefer a printed book? Scaredy Dog is currently being reviewed through Amazon KDP and should be available on Amazon next week.
