New Name, New Episode, New Freebie 🎹

Scrappy Piano Teachers

May 12th

Hey Teacher Friend,

Welp, it’s official!

After nearly a year of running The Music Teacher Mastermind Podcast, I’ve rebranded the show to something that feels even more me…dun dun dunnnn

Presenting...The Scrappy Piano Teacher Podcast

(Miss the trailer? You can listen here)

Because let’s be real, we’re not always building picture perfect studios with perfect students and perfectly polished policies. We’re making it work with grit, creativity, and a whole lot of coffee in super cute coffee mugs (yes, I promise to admire yours on social media, because I am always looking for coffee mugs that make me happy.)

And the name just fits me better. I love the professional business side of things, but I also like to be sarcastic and down to earth as well. So mixing the two together just fits the vibe.

And with that, Episode 047 is here!

Teaching Philosophy 101: Put Your Why Into Words

In this first episode under the new name, I’m talking about something I think is both overlooked and underrated...your teaching philosophy. Personally, I believe it’s just as essential to your studio as a solid set of policies.

If you have never made one before, or maybe haven't looked at yours since 2012, I've got you covered.

Free Teaching Philosophy Template

To go with the episode, I’ve created a super practical Teaching Philosophy Template.
It’s got:

  • Questions for you to consider about your studio and to marinate in your brain as you begin.
  • A fill-in-the-blank starter with a simple 4 Part Framework
  • A layout guide for the overachievers 😉
  • And a “Studio Snapshot” checklist for fun

Scrappy Teacher Spotlights

Here are a few fun things I’ve seen lately in our teaching world:

  • Amy Chaplin is hosting a Summer Digital Organization Retreat at the end of this month, and I am always a little jealous of the small group of teachers who get to attend! Imagine a weekend of amazing food and company, all while getting every digital file organized. Check it out here
  • Rachel Ehring's Youtube channel helped me as I crammed for accompanying my son's choir concert (her voice was going through my head as we approached every song!) You can view her channel here
  • Christina Whitlock always has the best coffee mugs (for real) and her episode 13 from Beyond Measure was incredibly inspiring to me as I wrote my Teaching Philosophy - Listen Here

Got something cool or scrappy happening in your studio? Hit reply and let me know, I’d love to hear it and maybe share it next time!

P.S. If you’ve been enjoying the podcast, the free resources, or just appreciate a little real-talk from one teacher to another, you can always buy me a coffee here.

It means a lot, and helps me keep creating things that support this community.

Either way, I’m so grateful to have you here.

Keep Teaching, Keep Loving, Keep Practicing - Love Always, Jaci
